StarkWare tests quantum-resistant Bitcoin transaction on mainnet without soft fork
StarkWare researcher Avihu Levy successfully executed the first experimental quantum-resistant Bitcoin transaction on mainnet in block 964,199. The test spent a 10,000-satoshi output using the Quantum Safe Bitcoin scheme without requiring network soft forks. However, generating the nonstandard transaction required hours of GPU computation, cost between $150 and $200, and needed direct submission via MARA Pool’s Slipstream service, highlighting significant usability and cost hurdles for emergency post-quantum security.
